Paragraph 2, LLC, 5101 E La Palma Ave, Anaheim Hills, CA 92807 — 714-200-1202
Orange County classes normally use the Anaheim Hills classroom with live-fire qualification at Raahauge’s in Eastvale. Check your selected date’s venue before booking.
How to get a CCW in Riverside County
Start with the Riverside County Sheriff’s application process, then prepare for the training and live-fire qualification. Paragraph 2, LLC provides the course; the Sheriff decides whether to issue your permit.
Confirm your issuing agency and follow its current instructions before enrolling. Have your application information ready and check when the CCW unit wants your training certificate.
How to get a CCW in Los Angeles — LASD vs LAPD
Your issuing agency matters. City of Los Angeles applicants generally work with LAPD; LASD serves its contract cities and unincorporated areas. Check the agency for your address before choosing a course.
LASD: Effective October 1, 2026, Live Scan or firearm training completed before application submission will not be accepted. No exceptions. Submit your application and wait for CCW Unit authorization before proceeding. LAPD has its own instructions; do not apply LASD’s process to an LAPD application.
How to get a CCW in Orange County
Orange County CCW licensing is handled by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. Start with OCSD’s application instructions and wait for its direction before completing firearms training.
Do not complete firearms training or qualification until an OCSD designee tells you to proceed. When authorized, check your chosen date’s classroom location and the live-fire location before booking.
How to get a CCW in San Diego County
San Diego County applicants use the Sheriff’s CCW applicant portal for applications, documents and appointments. Paragraph 2, LLC is an SDSO approved training vendor; the Sheriff, not the instructor, issues the permit.
Follow the Sheriff’s current portal instructions on when to train so your certificate is current when your file is reviewed. Check the venue on your chosen class date rather than assuming training takes place in San Diego County.
Which handguns should I bring to CCW class?
Bring each handgun you want listed on your permit. For CCW training, your handgun must be registered to you. Bring 200 rounds, eye and ear protection, and your identification. Keep firearms cased and unloaded until an instructor directs otherwise. Confirm your issuing agency’s firearm restrictions before class.
What does live-fire qualification involve?
You demonstrate safe firearm handling and complete your issuing agency’s required shooting qualification with each handgun you want listed on your permit. Distances, round counts and passing standards depend on the agency. Check your county guide and ask Jim about your agency’s current requirements before attending.
When should I start planning my CCW renewal?
Start planning about six months before your permit expires. Confirm your issuing agency’s current application window and training-certificate timing before booking. Renewal training is an 8-hour course with live-fire requalification; taking the class does not extend your permit.
What happens after I complete the class?
After successfully completing the required training and qualification, you receive your course completion certificate. Submit the certificate and any remaining documents as your issuing agency directs. The agency decides whether to issue or renew your permit. A training certificate is not a carry permit.
Jim Belanger is an NRA and USCCA Training Counselor — the level that trains and certifies other instructors — and the lead instructor behind Paragraph 2, LLC.
He teaches the California DOJ 16-hour initial and 8-hour renewal CCW courses, basic pistol, rifle and shotgun, home and family defense, women’s handgun, AR15, and seminars at Bass Pro Shops in Rancho Cucamonga and Irvine. He is an approved CCW trainer for the Riverside, Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego county sheriff departments.
Students consistently say the same thing: he teaches the what, the why, and the how — patiently, in plain language, and without ego. Classroom instruction and live-fire qualification are built for every level of shooter, from a first-time gun owner to a permit holder requalifying.
